Why we exist

We exist to cultivate curiosity and human leadership skills

As the world moves towards using Artificial Intelligence, human skills will become even more important for pursuing both excellence and personal happiness.

Cultivating curiosity will prepare you for the era ahead.

Curiosity is more than asking questions. It is the willingness to listen for intent, challenge what you think you know, see an issue from various perspectives, and discover the best communication style to connect with others.

Curiosity Club exists to help people and teams develop the abilities to think deeply, communicate clearly, collaborate, and turn complex problems into meaningful action.

Testimonials

Where it all began

From the 2008–2012 Debate Club in Guatemala, the precursor of Curiosity Club.

My time in the debate club in 2011 was a transformative experience that expanded my mind and taught me to look far beyond my own perspectives. Although I was already questioning things in my daily life, this space gave me the structure to analyze reality with greater openness, showing me that debating isn't about fighting, but about learning to understand other perspectives. The driving force behind this growth was our teacher, Amanda, whose warmth and engaging teaching style made the learning both enjoyable and profound. Although my time with her was brief, this experience taught me the valuable lesson that good teachers don't need years to impact our lives, but rather enough empathy to leave an indelible mark.

— Idania from Santiago Zamora, Guatemala

I was very young when I met Ms. Amanda in 2008. She is very good at what she does — she is organized and responsible. She gave us new goals and taught us to face challenges in life by always informing ourselves, developing strong arguments, and building the character to solve challenges through discussion and debate.

— Luis from Antigua, Guatemala
About

Who founded Curiosity Club?

Portrait of Amanda Turner Ege
Amanda Turner EgeFounder, Curiosity Club · Zurich, 2026

Amanda Turner Ege founded Curiosity Club in Zurich in 2026.

As a mom of three children growing up in the age of AI, Amanda began researching how to teach critical thinking and empathy. She became so passionate about the intersection of these topics across age groups and industries that she decided to dedicate part of her time to building a community that values intellectual rigor, human leadership skills, and kindness during a time in the world when these core values are being challenged.

Amanda has dedicated her career to having an impact on individuals and systems. She spent the last 20 years alleviating poverty across various sectors — education, agriculture, impact entrepreneurship and impact investing. She sits on the Board of three impact companies and has been a frequent guest lecturer at IMD, ETH, University of Zurich, and University of Hamburg. Over the last eight years, she has been an Executive Director at elea, a premier philanthropic impact investor based in Zurich. In addition to being a member of the investment team, she runs the elea Talent Program and manages the elea Entrepreneurs' Community where she trains, mentors and convenes in a way that helps people discover their potential.

The idea for Curiosity Club came out of a Debate Club that Amanda ran for teens in Guatemala between 2009 and 2012. The program expanded to 20 schools since then.

Amanda obtained an MBA at the Yale School of Management with a focus on emerging market finance. Her degree led her to study entrepreneurship and impact enterprises in China, South Africa, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. She graduated from Yale College with a BA in History.

The experiences behind Curiosity Club

Conflicts start when people don't feel understood

Over her career, Amanda witnessed that conflicts start when people don't feel understood. Some people struggle to communicate while others struggle to listen. Sometimes people struggle with both. This is true for individual relationships, team dynamics, even market dynamics.

To solve difficult problems well, strong teams listen to different perspectives, understand the problem logically from all of these perspectives, recognize strengths and gaps, challenge assumptions, build consensus with everyone aligned and turn rigorous thinking into collaborative action.

As Artificial Intelligence can increasingly recall information, analyze data, generate ideas and produce content, human capabilities, especially the ability to combine intellectual rigor with human understanding, will become even more important.

Amanda is building Curiosity Club to cultivate the future skills needed to achieve high quality results in joyful teams.

01

You have undiscovered potential.

Potential grows when you become curious about yourself, others and the world around you.

02

You need both challenge and care.

We can hold high standards while treating people with kindness and respect. We can challenge an idea without diminishing the person who holds it. This combination of intellectual rigor and human caring is what helps you become more capable and discover your potential.

03

Deep thinking is fun.

Intellectual rigor and human care can coexist with kindness, lightness and fun. There is joy in asking a better question, seeing something clearly for the first time and arriving at a consensus in a team because everyone is contributing with a sense of psychological safety.

04

You learn best when you play, practice and experience.

Learning should be something you live. Curiosity Club turns rigorous thinking and human skills into experiences — through games, challenges, collaboration and play. Because when learning is joyful, you don't just understand more. You want to keep discovering and forming deeper relationships.
